5 1/2″ (14 cm.) Of light brown and cream velvet,the kangaroo has stitched ears,tiny shoe button eyes,embroidered nose and mouth. Excellent condition. Germany,Steiff,1905-1910.

42″ Steiff’s iconic studio pieces reached their pinnacle in the period from 1960-1967. Department and toy store displays invited children (and adults) to join a menagerie of animals on flights of fancy. Conjuring images of the forests of Australia and Tasmania is this circa 1967 studio mohair kangaroo with a mohair “Joey” in her pouch. The kangaroo is 42″ tall with luminous glass eyes, a black stitched nose, jointed head and arms and possesses a Steiff button with remnants of a yellow tag in her ear. Overall very fine plus condition with minimal wear to edge/seam of pouch. Joey has some mohair loss on head and neck. Condition: Dimensions: 42″ T.
